• Indica-Dominant Hybrid
Gelato family, dark-cherry phenotype
A Gelato-family indica-dominant hybrid with rich dark cherry and creamy sweetness, built for evening decompression.
• Strain overview
Black Cherry Gelato sits in the Gelato family and leans firmly indica-dominant, roughly 70/30. It is best known for a dark, jammy cherry flavor wrapped in the creamy sweetness the Gelato line is famous for — closer to black cherry ice cream than to the brighter, tarter cherry strains. Batches we carry typically test between 20 and 26% THC. The effect matches the flavor: slow, rich and physically heavy, with a mood lift that arrives early and then quietly steps aside for full-body relaxation. It rotates through our New Jersey menu, and availability moves with each drop.
• Family tree
Gelato line
Creamy dessert sweetness, dense resinous structure
Dark-fruit phenotype selection
Black cherry and berry depth, heavier indica expression
Black Cherry Gelato
Indica-Dominant Hybrid
Black Cherry Gelato descends from the Gelato line, itself a Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint GSC cross, selected toward a dark-fruit phenotype rather than the dessert-mint side of the family. Breeder attributions vary by source and we are not going to invent one — what is consistent across batches is the Gelato structure, the resin production and the cherry-forward terpene expression.
• The Sensory Profile
Rich and dessert-like — dark cherry preserves first, then a milky cream note, with a faint earthy backbone that keeps it grounded. It is one of the sweeter jars on the shelf without smelling artificial.
Caryophyllene
Peppery warmth, associated with stress and tension relief
Limonene
Citrus lift that sharpens the early mood boost
Humulene
Earthy, herbal depth underneath the sweetness
Terpene names are listed as commonly reported for this variety; percentages appear on each batch's lab results.
• Commonly described
A warm mood lift with a soft mental haze — pleasant rather than racy.
Deep physical relaxation that spreads through the shoulders and legs.
This is an evening strain. Most people find it good for winding down, easing physical tension and drifting toward sleep at higher doses. Not the one for a productive afternoon.
Cannabis experiences vary by product, dose, individual and setting. These descriptions are informational and are not guaranteed effects.
• Shop this strain
We select Black Cherry Gelato for color and resin — dense buds with genuine purple tones through the calyxes, dark orange pistils and a heavy trichome coat. Washed-out, pale batches almost always mean the terpene profile went with the color.
Start with one small inhale and wait a full 15 minutes before taking more with flower or vape. With edibles, wait two full hours before redosing. This is general information, not medical advice — tolerance and body chemistry vary.
